Losing It

You've got to get lost to get found

The Unseen Meaning

Do we ever get found or do we just get too busy to notice that we are lost? Do our social lives, children, work, etc. keep us so distracted that we don’t notice that our lives are meaningless? Or do the things that keep us busy give our lives meaning? They fill the emptiness.

July 7 2009 Extravaganza

People find meaning and purpose in so many things – especially in children and work – less obviously in social lives and yet meaning is in connections and social lives are all about connections. So maybe people (like me) who feel that their lives are meaningless do not actually have lives that are devoid of meaning. Maybe their lives have meaning – just not enough of it. And to make a life seem meaningful is just a question of focus. Instead of putting the spotlight on the spaces in between, we simply need to concentrate on the meaning in our lives – all the little activities that, if multiplied, would make our lives meaningful (and us too busy to appreciate it).

We humans are never happy. There is never enough until there is too much.
